Abstract

African swine fever (ASF), first discovered in Kenya in 1921, is an acute hemorrhagic viral disease with a high mortality rate of nearly 100% caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV). Over the past few decades, ASFV has spread to many countries and regions, which led to huge economic loss to the swine industry. ASF is designated as a re-emerging viral disease by the World Health Organization and there is no vaccine or treatment available.
